HOW LONG DID IT AFFECT US?
The invention of the Sewing Machine was really popular when it first came out, and helped out a lot of clothing manufacturing places. There were also people that used it in there houses. As the years went on the machine became less and less popular. Now they aren't that popular to use in the households, but of course are still used in manufacturing places. They have now built sewing machines better, faster and easier to use. If it wasn't for the invention of the sewing machine we wouldn't been in the state we are today with the mass production of clothing.
HOW DID IT MAKE CLOTHES BETTER?
The sewing machine used different techniques that you would use in hand stitching. The different techniques were better, and were perfect for making clothes. The techniques were tighter so they wouldnt fall apart, and wouldnt have any holes in them. Hand stitching did help but the over all process was time costly, and the final product wasn't good.
WHAT HAPPEND AFTER HE GOT IT PATTENED?
The process after Elias was done inventing this great invention was a really long one. Everyone was amazed by this invention, but not one single person or manufacturing company bought it because it was so expensive. He finally got a call from a manufactuer and owner of the Thomas company, William Frederick Thompson. It was a long process with Thomas because he had to move out to Britan with his family. Thomas also wanted Elias to make the invention better, but this didn't help because they couldn't find ways to make copys of the machine. Thomas then gave up and took the only sewing machine that Elias had made and left him without a job. When Elias returned to the United States from Britan he had found that a bunch of people had made the atempt at copying his sewing machine and were succesful. He then decided to sew all of the inventors that had copied his idea. He won all of the cases and was rich again, and then finally opened his own company called the Elias Howe company.
